Mary Pat's Story
Greetings from Colorado! I've been married for 31 years (to an LSU Cajun from Nawlins...), and have a 28-year-old son, T.J. (Thomas Joseph). (I used to think people like me were OLD!!!)
I live with my family in country as beautiful as Heaven at the base of the Colorado Rockies, and I loved working as a trial attorney and later as a judge in Colorado for 19 years. My husband, Mark, is co-owner of an electrical wholesale company, and our last name is "Daviet" (pronounced "Da-vee-a.") I successfully battled cancer in the late 90's (Non-Hodgkins lymphoma), and am doing much better now, although I was forced to retire early in 2003 due to other health concerns. The part of my brain that analyzes legal cases and prosecutes trials is very bored, but I do spend a lot of time reading and making quilts and handcrafted toys!!
Anyhow.......being married to a Nawlins guy, I'm a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. Being a Saints fan was a little depressing there for a few years, but I've definitely been a faithful member of the WHO DAT Nation for lotsa years now. But, the LSU thing is out of the question...... GO GATORS!! (...and, truth be known, I've always had a hard time warming up to the Denver Broncos, but I actually found myself rootin' for the donkeys every now-and-then after Mr. Manning came on...Expand for more
the scene. I could never love Peyton the same way I L-O-V-E Tim Tebow, especially since Peyton played for Tennessee, but I do like Peyton an awful lot anyway.) (and where was TT when I was at the Univ. of Florida???!!?!!!?) 8-)
Our son T.J. is still single. He's a homeowner and is a corporate officer in the electrical business, with the goal of taking over his Dad's company in the future. He's in the process of earning a computer science degree now, too, on top of everything else. Although he is almost 29 now, I guess I'm the one who has trouble letting go of the apron strings, 'cause I can't seem to stop worrying about his safety and well-being. Oh, well. . . I made it this far in spite of all my risky antics in high school and college, so I guess I shouldn't worry!!
Hope to hear from you!
MARY PAT ELLIS (DAVIET)
[I LOVE to hear from my classmates, and even though you might not get a fast response from me - or maybe not any response(?) - I'm really not ignoring you. Thanks to my past head injuries, I've got a pretty heavy-duty case of Narcolepsy, and it's usually very difficult for me to stay awake for more than just a few hours at a time. (If I've had some SERIOUS morning caffeine, I am occasionally able to get in here and update after many months of good intentions!!!]
